Contra: "This was an emergency trip to see my mother who was in the hospital. The flight was delayed so I had no option but to board the next day since I wouldn't be able to make it to the connecting flight in Frankfurt. They couldn't give me another connecting flight since it was all full. Because I booked my ticket only hours before my flight, they said it might not be possible to fulfil my meal request since there's a 24 hours cut off. However, now I had to cone back to the airport and take the next days flight which gave the airline more than 24 hours from my original meal request. I still did not get the meal I requested, the crew didn't know about it and didn't have any to spare. This was my first time flying Lufthansa, I probably won't try it again."
Pro: "The hospitality crew that was at SFO gave us the location of a lounge to go to which closed at 8 pm. The time they gave the location was at 8.25 pm. She was uninformed and not very highly trained. Lounge was disgusting. Messy, crowded - seemed like a 2nd class waiting room in an Indian railway station. The boarding was very poorly managed by the same lady!"

Contra: "The only thing I didn't like is that the boarding process was different than what I was used to. I usually board by zones and this time it was more of a everyone got up at the same time and everyone rushed to the front of the lines and some people would push me out of the way to get in front. ( even though we all had assigned seating) Second thing was that I had asked for a wheelchair for my mom and I had seen one waiting outside and was about to walk up to it but another person was limping up to it and put her stuff down on it so I didn't know if it was for my mom or her. I didn't have the heart to go up and make her move if the wheelchair was for my mom so we ended up walking the whole way to customs. I felt bad for my mom afterwards because her knees ended up hurting by the time we got to customs. I would suggest holding up signs of individual names for who the wheelchair is for. Other than that everything was great"

The second was breakfast wigh tasteless scrambled egg and mushroom and spinach. Both serving sizes were really small with just one side dish of fruits. I was hungry the whole 10 hours flight."

Contra: "Lufthansa does not honor frequent flyer statuses of any of their alliance partners in regards to seat upgrades. Being 6'4", the ability to upgrade to economy plus/premium is important on long-haul flights. Everything else about Lufthansa is excellent, but I will not book with Lufthansa for long flights anymore because of this. I'll stick with United from now on."

When I was finally rebooked on a Swiss Air flight, the flight was invalid, Swiss didn't accept it. I was send to various different lines, and they didn't even understand what my problem was. Finally after spending 2 whole days at the San Francisco airport, I could take off with a 30 hour delay. The Swiss Air flight was wonderful."

Contra: "1 After long stand the line when i want to check in my Luggage i got shocking news According to checkin counter lady said Flight delay more than 2hours and can be 3hours no body knows how long will be delay, she recommended me to go from San Francisco to san jose airport to get another flight. it's time Enough she said , that time about 1pm, i am lucky that i arrived SF airport 3hours in advance so that i could manage to catch up another flight at the san jose airport, i had to go san jose airport from San Francisco by Taxi and the cost was 170usd because driver says over 50mils far a way i need to pay 50% more, i have a alot import meeting in germany, meeting schedule could be mess i was really shocking, how can i get back Taxi fee usd170??? 2. regards to Crew., one Passenger was collecting his handy carry luggage at Cabinet and he forgot to close Cabinet cover after he collected and it was opened that time one flight crew passing by to final check up before landing but don't see that cabinet door open, so one of passenger talk to her to close the Cabinet door, also handy carry luggage after used the passenger should Keep Under the chair for safety but even passenger keept (put) in her beside empty seat, the Crew don't say anything, it was many people keept in next empty seat area. According to rull must keep it under seat, but crew don't say anything I was very very surprised. it's very Dangerous to everybody people may hurt , i was very Scared and nervous. 3. in the dark room passenger can't see or feels that behind them whether crew come or not (passing by or not) Crew passing by and hit passenger but without saying sorry and just go a way. it's impossible... 4. i was standing at Exit door and look at the outside but same time crew came and said to me not friendly and without smile "Excuse me" and i go a way, i saw she crew want to put something inside at dress room. what i want to say the crew could be more nice and smiley face to passenger or could be nice can be wait 5 seconds but was really the way of tone is Racist, this is what i felt, really bad."

Contra: "The food is mediocre - everything has meat in it and they use tons of plastic. Also, the plane was late getting to the gate. This wouldn’t have been an issue had the pilot not decided to off board and then re onboard cargo (the commercial stuff they get paid to carry). This took about 20 minutes and then after the winds changed, he decided he could load more passengers. So despite having the doors locked and getting ready to leave the gate, they opened the doors up again and boarded more people for the next 40 minutes. So they chose to make a delayed flight even more delayed (on Christmas Eve). So we inevitably missed our connection in sydney and had to pay a change fee since it’s a different airline. Thanks for the Christmas gift United - you always know how to disappoint your passengers."

Had just gotten off of a connecting United flight and one of the employees barked at me that my carry on was too big and I had to close extra zipper even though I had no issues in the United flight I had just gotten off of......... I was starving and didn’t get a chance to grab food due to short layover time. We took a while to take off. We’re supposed to leave at 4:15 and left closer to 5pm. Then when we were on the air, flight attendants took a while to provide the snacks and water and they didn’t even get around to our row before they had to sit down for touch down. Smh. Terrible and thoughtless. Seats were uncomfortable and very little leg space. Entertainment only works if you’re able to download their app and of course no free WiFi because airlines want to force you to spend more money after you’ve spent a large amount to fly to your destination."

Seemed to me that too much space on plane dedicated to the premium 'cabins' for the uber rich, but they were interesting to look at."

Since my first flight was delayed and I barely made it to my connection, I had no time to grab something to eat at the airport. And being celiac, there was only a nut and fruit mix. Not enough to substitute for a meal. My biggest complaint however is with 3 hours left of the flight, i turned on the call button to request a beverage and nobody came. I waited 45 minutes, having to turn on the light 3 separate time because it automatically must have timed out. I couldn't get out of my seat due to seat belt sign. I looked back into the rear galley and 5 attendants were back there talking. Tried to get their attention. Nothing. Finally, I got up and went to get my own drinks. Being a server at hotel in waikiki, I understand that customer service is very important. And though I understand that they may have been busy and unable to answer my call, I could see that clearly was not the problem. They were just standing there and chatting. Very frustrating. Though they were friendly, they just simply weren't paying attention. I have to say in all honesty, I will not be recommending nor flying United airlines again."

We could not access our United account so we could not watch the movies, which was lame for a 5 hour flight. The food was also unpleasant as usual. You'd think a multimillion dollar airline could afford to feed people more than drinks and a cookie. What happened to the hospitality of the industry? If you came to my house for 5 hours and I gave you one cookie and a beverage maybe two you would think I was rude or down right cheap."

I booked my trip from October 5-16 2017 and our vacation together won’t start until a day later. Some may say it’s only a day but I say different and I should be compensated for my loss as well as so many other people that were traveling with me. My overall experience with this airline was horrible! I won’t say I’d never use them again because you never say never BUT they will be my last resort!"

Contra: "1. The flights within the US and Canada was delayed. 2. The United Airline staff in San Francisco told me to pick up my luggage when I get to Seattle despite of the fact that my final destination was Vancouver. I questioned the staff about this ata this seemed odd, but he insisted that I pick up my luggage in Seattle. Upon arrival to Seattle I went to the baggage claim area to find out that my luggage was already put through to the connecting airline to Vancouver. This resulted in me having to go through a long line of passengers to do all of the security checks again to enter the international airport gates. This almost resulted in me missing my connecting flight to Vancouver. The only saving grace was that the flight was delayed by another hour. 3. Changes made on my connecting flights were only given to me during my check in at Auckland. My previous booking was Auckland -San Francisco - Portland - Vancouver. The boarding pass I was given in Auckland omitted Portland and was changed to Seattle. I was never informed about this by United Airlines. 4. United Airlines website NOT allowing me to log in using my e-mail."

Contra: "OK, United, I understand and fully support "no more seat monitor" policy to reduce costs (even though it seems very backward); however, there's one problem--if you still want to enjoy onboard entertainments, you need to download the United application above 10,000 feet where you can never find your 4G connection. Oh wait, but there's still Wi-Fi service, right? Sure, if you are willing to pay $17 just to download application!! United, I understand how you want to make little money out of a customer's pocket, but this is not how you should do it. You should at least allow internet connection before departure or let the customer aware they need to download application beforehand."

Contra: "What is Kayak anyway? Check your records Kayak in no way helped my travels. Kayak was not able to book my lame flights with the lame and soon to be bankrupt again airlines. Kayak has done nothing but waste my time. Thanks. Is Kayak publicly traded? I'll have to look that up. Great short sale right there."
Pro: "Getting off the plane"
Contra: "The guy puked halfway through the flt and not one single flt attendant came even though they were serving drinks repeatedly to the dr sitting in the row in front of me. Also the flt was delayed as we waited almost an hour for people trying to connect which made me more upset since I was rebooked on that later flt because although my previous flt was there half hour before departure, we didn't have a gate to use which caused me to be 15 mins late for my original flt. Did they wait for me?! NO! I was rebooked. It's unfair that they stole an hour of life from every other passenger to accommodate a few. Back to the guy who puked, an hour after that he started shaking and grabbing his head and asking me why am I hurting his heart. Then incoherent blathering and then his last episode 20 minutes before we land in which he started hitting himself in the head saying he would die right now for his wife and how he's made mistakes. It was three separate incidents from this one passenger and not one flt attendant noticed? Yeah it was bad piled on worse stacked on top of never United ever again."

Contra: "The united staff kept skipping the lines to drop off the bags. They didn't care when multiple people in line said they were skipping people. After paying once for my checked bag they tried to make me pay again. Asked to see in writing what they were trying to explain and the manager couldn't do it. They never gave me my ticket stub for my checked bag. So if it hadn't arrived I wouldn't have had anyway to find it. Very disappointing staff in SFO. Seemed aa if no one at SFO was happy to be working there or even worse didnt know what to do most of the time. VERY different than the DEN united experience."
Pro: "Friendly staff, easy boarding. They got me where I needed to go, and on time!"
Contra: "I'm disappointed in their in-flight entertainment system. Download the app and check out all of the amazing options they have, then try to use it & good luck. It took me 5 hours to watch 20 min of the movie I chose. It just kept cutting out, then would say entertainment service isn't offered, etc. Why are airlines going away from personal TVs & instead having you bring your own device which may or may not work with the service up there? There was also NO room. I'm not a big person, but I didn't even have space to put my bad under the seat in front of me & sit comfortably. I flew back on JetBlue with the same amount of stuff and had ample room. It was interesting to see the difference."

Contra: "Never got to do this flight because of the previous flight which is reviewed below: My seat was broken and wouldn't stay in upright position. This really pissed off the passenger behind me. Crew kept telling me to put my seat upright, I kept having to tell them the seat was broken. Old airplane with no in-seat entertainment. they advertise on the seat that you can watch all their entertainment content for free, but then you have to pay for wifi to watch so it's not free then, is it? Every movie or show requires "additional software" so you have to purchase internet to do the download. This is an 11 hour flight, I would have appreciated being able to watch a movie or something without forking out $30. Flight was delayed, so we were low on time to make our connection. I asked a flight attendant twice if we could get help deplaning early or at least get moved up some rows since we were in the very back of a 747 (there were plenty of vacant seats). They said no, and told us that customs would only take a minute and that the other united flight knew we'd be coming and would wait. I don't usually fly united; other airlines typically will actively take steps to help (like moving connecting passengers to the front shortly before landing) if they are the cause of the delay. Customs had only one agent working and we were pretty much last in line so that process took over an hour. Just moving us 10 rows forward before landing would have made all the difference because our connecting flight closed its doors and taxied for takeoff less than 5 minutes before we arrived. They had some united employees guiding and directing a couple of passengers that were going to be late for a connection to LAX, but no help for those of us connecting to portland. Customer service didn't even offer a verbal apology. Last time I flew with united, I also had a terrible experience for different reasons. I did not intend to fly united for this flight, but I purchased tickets through and for Lufthansa, and this flight was regrettably operated by united. Another thing I don't like - the food was horrendous. It was a breakfast sandwich that was advertised as "hot and fresh" on the packaging but was served straight from the refrigerator. I was in the middle seats with one person to my left and two people to my right. Everyone took only one bite and threw away the rest. Just don't bother serving the food if it's going to be that bad, it's very wasteful. I always appreciate a hot towelette after a long overnight flight. United offered no such thing which was a first for me. Regarding boarding: they called us all up to line up in boarding groups and then we had to stand in line for 65 minutes. I have a bad back and had to sit on the carpet to avoid being last in line and not having space for my carry on bag. Pro: "We didn't crash?"
Contra: "After much concerns and inquiries made bag did NOT make the plane! There is as no one to h love me to n white Planes for 45 minutes! No one at the counter? Wow! Finally supervisor Jill was able to track it down in Chicago where th y took it off the he plane as my carry on because they had no room l ft from the h limited space. After working very hard to get my bag of o White Plains that evening, supervisor Jill hung out an hour past her shift ended to get it on the last transport to my hotel. The transport blew herself by ft and never showed up or called the o say he wasn't coming back! I got my bag on he next morning just in tim for my event! I also was not credited my frequent flyer miles. Some glitch in the system. Overall I must rate my experience as a one star simply because the pilots got us there safely."
Pro: "No entertainment unless you pay, but you can't turn the tv off, so it's playing bright ads in your face all night. Awesome."
Contra: "If you want to feel like you're riding the most cramped Greyhound bus, definitely ride with united."
Contra: "Because of a delay in SFO to Chicago O'Hare airport I missed my connecting flight back home. My connecting flight left early without me. While boarding the plane in SFO, the people at the gate made me check my carry on bag. Which I thought was very weird. When we finally got to Chicago I stood in line for two and a half hours to talk to one of the worst customer service lady of my life. She swore at me many times over me trying to be polite and wait for her to call me up to find another flight. Instead she looked at me and said "what are you waiting for?" She said to me "Oh here's a flight. But oh wait it's already sold out or gone" and she would laugh. Finally she found a flight close to where I live. My baggage had got lost from my connecting flight leaving without me. I got all of my luggage 2 days after. My carry on bag that got checked at my gate was in a clear trash bag. I took it out of the bag to find that it was completely trashed. My handles were ripped off which put a huge whole revealing all of my personal items. My carry on bag has only been used once and can never be used again. I unpacked my bag and noticed $300 worth of my stuff was missing. I have called to make many complaints to talk to corporate office but no one would give me the correct number. I will NEVER fly United Airlines again. I am so disappointed."
Pro: "Flight left on time. Arrived in DC 15 minutes early. Did not use entertainment so no comment there but overall I had no complaints."
Pro: "Quick-ish boarding"
Contra: "No food. No entertainment. No power. Garbage, lowest rung "bus in the sky" service"
Pro: "At least there was room to sprawl out and rest."
Contra: "We boarded our plane and during preflight check on the runway the captain learned there was mechanical error (in the right engine fuel something). The issue could not be solved and we had to change planes. On the second plane, the captain shared with travelers that "and two loose wires were found, so it's good we caught that and changed planes". What the heck? Shouldn't basic functions be checked before a plane is boarded? What was supposed to be a 1030 red eye, turned out to be a 1 AM bloodshot eye."
Pro: "The crew was very polite."
Contra: "The tvs didn't show the movies properly the sound and screens would stop, and skip ahead. Impossible to watch or understand."
Contra: "I was on a super late flight to Chicago and for some reason was placed in Boarding Group 5 (I have a United cc, so I thought that came with the perks). I got over that part. But then they made me check my roller-board claiming they were full up. When I boarded, there was PLENTY of overhead bin space. So I had to go to baggage claim after midnight for no reason. Bummer."
Contra: "Somehow I ended up with a middle seat all three flights I took. I would have upgraded if offered. Plane wasn't all that comfortable. All and all, you guys got me where I needed to go, so I can't really complain. Thank you"
Pro: "Flight crew was attentive and kind."
Contra: "We had to sit on the Tarmac for 20 minutes before taking off due to low cloud cover over Seattle."
Pro: "They helped me boarded the next plane when I was late for my trip because of traffic problem."
Contra: "None"
Contra: "We got on board, waited 20 minutes. Capt said it was a bad reverser, and we were waiting on paperwork for 15 minutes. Long story short, they make us leave the plane after 2.5 hours. Then we wait in the airport for another 2.5 hours. I missed my connection and spent 10 hours in Chicago."
Contra: "My flight was late causing me to miss my connecting flight. Having to spent the night here at the airport. I'm still here waiting. I was rebooked on a 11:55am flight for this morning 7/19/16. Very disappointed."
Pro: "Fast"
