Contra: "I did not check the terms and conditions of the ticket. I am a Star Alliance Gold member and I was expecting SWISS to have a similar booking system like the others I fly with. I found out that the ticket fare did not contain checked luggage ( so I had to pay a hefty fee for it ) and also my 20" wheeled case that was ok in all the other flights I took it with me, this time was oversized and overweight . My wife took out the 2 laptops so it became within weight limits but still oversized - My wife paid for the fee ( I wasn't there at the time and she is not a such experienced flyier as I am ) . When I found out about the fee, I checked their rules and I found out that the hand luggage is allowed to be 22" . I saw in the airplane a lot of people with cases having the same size as mine, that went as checked luggage at a cost fo around 40 . I want to see how can I get my money back . . ."

Pro: "Passengers completely ignored the commands of the crew and crew was unable to take control of the crowd (passengers refused to follow crew's multiple demands to sit down during the high turbulence, finally crew gave up to force passengers to take a sit). Several times, standing passengers fell on the sitting ines. When at the end of the flight, the issue was pointed out to the captain and supervising flight attendant, both became aggressively defensive to the point of being rude."

I contacted customer service by email and was told I was all checked in. Assuming no issues I went to airport to find out it was canceled. I did not receive an explanation. I waited in line for two hours before speaking to a representative. Was made to feel like it was my fault I hadn't worked things out while waiting in line-"didn't you receive an email!?" I was told no other options except to leave the next day. I pulled up many other flights out of Venice that would get me home in time and was told that there simply were no other options. The real explanation was that Swiss didn't want to pay out to get me home in time. I had to pay more money to get back into the city rather than sit in airport for 12 hours."
Pro: "I have been flying to Greece and back many years now. I have never seen,such comfort in a plane,such great service,so many snacks and meals,and the crew was coming by every 30-45 minutes for water. We were served Swiss chocolate and also the best ice cream I have had in my life. Best flight and best plane I have flown in my life."
Pro: "The boarding process was efficient. Swiss Air provides much more spacious and comfortable seating arrangements than many other airlines."
Contra: "My entertainment system would not turn off, which made it difficult for me to fall asleep. I asked a flight attendant for help and she said she would reset it. However, the reset did not work and she never came back to verify whether or not it had solved the situation. I finally gave up and put a blanket over the screen. Furthermore, the meal service was very slow. It seemed as if most of the staff was very young and likely inexperienced. Perhaps it would be better to mix younger, less experienced staff with more seasoned staff. I flew three other Swiss flights during my European vacation and the service was much faster. Incidentally, most of the staff on these other flights were older and probably more experienced."

The jerky take off and bouncy initial flight was capped off with an approach to the runway for landing that was very scary, much too fast and wobbly. Thankfully the plane was pulled back up into the air, just before touch down, circled for ten minutes, and retried the landing. This time perfectly smooth and successful."

They also used to have nice amenities on long international flights like a hot towel and some Turkish Delight before takeoff and landing, but they no longer have that. And my biggest complaint is that they keep their planes unbearably hot most ost of the time. It’s by far the most frustrating thing when your cramped in their tiny spaces for 11 hours."

Contra: "We missed our flight to Berlin although we had waited at our gate we were told to go to. We immediately realized that something was wrong and went to get help. NO ONE wanted to help us. Every single Turkish Airline customer service desk, information desk, anywhere were rude, not willing to help as soon as they saw we were from America and gave us the complete run around. We spent hours trying to get some help before finally hearing that it was going to cost us $700 in penalties per person to get us on a new flight the next day. I was coming here for a wedding that I was actually IN and was going to miss this because they wanted our money. Plain and simple. The Supervisor actually told us to "call our embassy and see if they will send you money." Eventually we were able to get a hold of a family member that had a card to book us a new flight (costing us another huge amount of money on top of what we have already spent). And we had to spend the night in the airport. We finally got to Berlin the following day and now we are without luggage and no one seems to have it. We have nothing. We are now low on money, have no clothes nor necessities, and no one to help us. I have never been treated so poorly and felt so disgusted."

Contra: "My flight was cancelled due to the pilots' strike. I only learned about this when I attempted online check in. Lufthansa never attempted to notify me. Then when I called in to the Romania Service Center to rebook, the phones went down in the middle of the call. That is understandable given the extreme volume of calls they were handling. What is unacceptable, is that they made no attempt to contact me once the phones were up. I ended up calling the U.S. service center at 1am local time to rebook...only 3 hours before I needed to leave for the airport. It took an hour - which I paid for at direct dial international rates - to find a flight. I'm very grateful for the U.S. service rep who was kind and helpful. She was the one bright spot in this poorly handled situation."

I was assigned last row and middle seat, I could not change seat when there were other seats available at check-in. United would not let agents change either. Maybe kayak related? Expedia always allows seat changes"

Other airlines (Vueling, Air Europa) checked same bag as courtely, did not charge. First and last time flying Austrian."
Pro: "the flight missed my connection and they were AWESOME in handling it, getting me on a Swiss Air flight. That flight also missed its connection and Swiss Air took great care to put me up in a hotel. They made a frustrating situation so much smoother!"

I appreciated the attendant who asked the man in front of me to put his seat back up during the meal. The little red pillows were great - big enough to be useful and comfortable. Although we chose not to watch a movie, we were impressed with the offerings. Comfort on a long flight in coach is a thing of the past but we knew that when we chose to fly that class."
Contra: "Most of the crew was great (hence the five star rating) and the flight in general was at least on a par with competitive airlines but we did have an unpleasant encounter with a young man who we were told was the purser. When my husband asked about what seemed to us like a very high level of security (including dogs on the gangway as we boarded the plane), this young man replied in a very condescending manner,"It's America. You tell me". Well, we are Americans, not always in agreement with our country's actions and attitudes, but that comment was needlessly dismissive and hostile."

The ticket agent, the gate agent and the cabin crew all did nothing to make up for the fact that their system screwed up and stuck me in a cramped coach seat in the back of the plane for 11 hours-- TWICE! Beyond that, KLM must have one of the oldest fleets in the sky. Both ways LAX->AMS->LAX, I was on a 30-35 year old 747 with no wifi, no power and a ten-year-old entertainment system. Never again."

Contra: "Seats on the 777 were too narrow. This 777 had a 3-4-3 seating arraignment, it would have been better with a 3-3-3, similar to a 787 configuration. With the current layout, even with an aisle seat, I was sitting in the aisle. And I am not a large person! The flight was full, so use the 787 and two daily non-stops. For a twelve hour flight, the food was only Okay, could have been better and with a better selection. Meal timing was poor."

Contra: "Poor communication between delta, KLM and Air France meant that I couldn’t check in online and get a digital boarding pass. Furthermore I couldn’t use the check-in kiosks because my name was listed as Reidmr instead of Reid, which meant that my boarding pass did not match my passport. Overall this caused unnecessary delays that were compounded by the fact that I couldn’t use my TSA precheck. My main problem on the plane was that I had to struggle to get water served to me. It’s always so dry on planes and I would have liked to be able to get more than one tiny glass of water at a time. Also, would have loved a window at my window seat. Plus no WIFI!?"

What was worse was after I told them of my situation they said they understood and had a meal that would do but there was cheese, yogurt, milk chocolate, etc."
Contra: "Flight from Amsterdam was 2 hours late. Caused me to miss connection on train from London to Leeds which then cost me 124 pounds to rebook. No information was forthcoming at all at the airport and there were 3 different departure times given. Absolute chaos. The airline is a joke"

Then it was back thorough security and a rush to the gate to get there in time to board. Lost our original seat assignment and wound up in the last row at the tail of the plane. Extremely poor coordination between KLM and Delta who operated the flight."
