Basically, carry-on overhead compartments have been made smaller on purpose or by engineering error, and this makes me not want to fly Qatar airlines again. Less food options. I went to the Gally and they only had kitkat bars for food. Emirates offer fruit, sandwiches, and many choices at ALL TIMES of the flight for economy class."

I have never experienced such rude people on a flight and I realize this is beyond your control. It made for a very uncomfortable and stressful flight. Maybe signs can be posted or a message when booking your flight that ALL passengers have a right to recline seats and if space is an issue for your comfort then upgrade to business class for more room."
Contra: "They charge you an extra $ 100 DOLLARS FOR THE OPTION TO PICK YOUR SEAT AND WHEN YOU CHECK IN THEY SAY THAT IT WAS JUST TO SIT IN THAT SECTION OF THE PLANE. WE PICKED OUR SEATS BY THE FRONT BULKHEAD AND WHEN WE CHECKED IN THEY REFUSED TO GIVE US THOSE SEATS BECAUSE THEY SAID OTHER PEOPLE PAID MORE THAN US TO HAVE THEM. THEY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR THIS KIND OF FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY."
Pro: "We were worried based on negative reviews on SWISS we had read prior to our trip, but they were WONDERFUL!! We flew coach from MIA to CRETE, two stops and 13+ hours of flying. The seats were as roomy as coach gets, but comfortable, reclining further than Delta or AA in my opinion. The food, drinks and snacks never stopped and were tasty!! Including a delicious Swiss chocolate a the end of your flight! They were so attentive! The attendants were all kind and polite. In fact, we had someone sit in front of us on our flight home who culturally didn't bath/wear deodorant and VERY malodorous and we asked the flight attendant if we could move. As soon as everyone boarded and she found two open seats for us, she moved us right before take off and we had a wonderful, great-smelling 10.5 hour flight!! LOL"
Contra: "There seems to only be 4 (plenty) bathrooms right in the center of the coach area of the plane, but with the flight attendants constantly serving drinks and food, you really had to time it so you could get to the bathrooms when they weren't in the aisles. Trust me though, this is hardly a negative and I will happily fly SWISS over and over!!!"

And the seats are incredibly narrow. When the person in front of me had their seat reclining I had even less room. Horrible. The only reason the flight from Zurich to Boston wasn't quite as bad was because I was able to get the seat by the exit aisle with extra legroom. The food was terrible. It didn't taste like real food. It looked and tasted totally artificial. Overall, a very poor experience."

This story is repeating with your airline at 29th July our Turkish Airlines flight from Sarajevo was late for 3hours so we were running at Ataturk Airport to catch connection flight to Istanbul even though we booked 4 hours delay in Istanbul. Contra: "The plain arrived late to Kiev and I missed the connection flight"
Pro: "The food and beverage selection, as well as the service in business class was excellent. Initially I dreaded the long layover of 8 hours. But I found the Turkish Airlines Business Lounge. It was so spectacular that I didn't want to leave it. I found a small movie theatre equipped with leather oversized recliners and slept. I was told that the 2 story lounge is 6000 square meters."
Contra: "The business class seating is old and not as comfortable as the newer herring bone configurations. Privacy could be improved."

Contra: "New US regulations requiring tablets and laptops to be stored in checked baggage were not relayed to me. I booked the trip in February and the new regulations went into effect in March, but I was never notified. When we got to Istanbul from Brussels and made our way to the gate, we had to go through a security checkpoint where I was informed that my tablets would be confiscated and given back to me once we landed. They had a claim area set up next to our baggage claim turn-style to get tablets and laptops back, but it took us 30 mintues to get our tablets (only 5 mintues to get our baggage). Again, I realize they're only doing their jobs and this regulation is new, but the system they put in place for it and their total lack of communication for customers who had already booked trips was awful. Also, at the checkpoint I was told my tablets would be confiscated and my passport had a sticker put on it. I moved down the line where I was told they would take my tablets and the next guy told me I was clear to go. I asked for verification and he ushered me along, so along I went. Then, while sitting in the plane waiting to leave, a group of 5 or 6 people came on board and searched me out, saying they didn't have a record of my tablets being handed over. I told them I was told to move on at the second checkpoint and they gave me a look as though I was lying, but then said it wasn't my fault and made me retrieve them from my bag and hand them over. It wasn't a huge deal, but it sure did make me look like an idiot in front of everyone else on the flight who could see it happen. The whole reason we brought our tablets was to read books on the flight, and a 13 hour flight doesn't exactly go by quickly. I udnerstand they're just doing their job, but they should have sent an update to people on these flights."

Contra: "It is impossible to make a one hour connecting flight in Istanbul when you take off 30 minutes late, arrive at a distant site (~ 5 km away from the arrival terminal) and the there is only one security guard to screen hundreds arriving. Missed our flight by 90 minutes, the customer service people were rude at the airport and we had a 7 hour delay. What are you thinking???"

Contra: "All good but crew wasn't very attentive - for example i had had to put my suitcase quite a few rows back because of lack of space at the end of the flight i had to wait for most of the plane to empty out in order to be able to retrieve it - the crew member who had originally indicated i put my suitcase further back and who was standing right by the cabin where the suitcase was stored saw all of this but didn't move to help in the slightest even though he knew i was waiting for a chance to get to my suitcase - in my experience of customer service i would have gotten it for the passenger and brought it to them to reduce the wait time"

This left us rushing through the airport to the very furthest gate. Boarded 20 mins late, then the flight left 1 hour late. Very expensive ticket price too!"

Contra: "We arrived at the airport at 9:00 to check in for our flight that was scheduled for departure at 12:15 and we were told that we could not check in until 2 hours before the flight (10:15). All of the passengers for flight AZ1466 lined up in front of a check-in counter that displayed Alitalia for our flight. At 10:45 they announced the check in for AZ1466 at a different check-in counter knowing full-well that everyone was lined up for flight AZ1466 on our line. So then everyone that was lined up at the first counter had to line up at the new counter. My wife and I were initially 3rd in line and then after we had to move we were in the very back of the line. On top of that, they only had 1 person checking everyone into economy (which was most of the people on the plane) and they also had to weigh everyone’s carry-on baggage. We were initially told they had weather issues with the snow in Rome and they did not know if we would take off on time or would be cancelled. However, I was getting e-mail messages from Kayak stating our flight was on-time. So how is it that a 3rd party travel company knew what was going on, but the crew at Alitalia did not? Afterward I had to go through security, wait on the tax refund line, and go straight to board the plane. After that we waiting on the plane for 50 minutes and did not take-off until 1:05 PM. These were the problems in short: 1. No one informed us that we could not check in at this particular airport until 2 hours prior to flight departure. 2. They did not begin the check in process until 90 minutes prior to departure. 3. We had to switch check-in lines and they only had 1 check-in person. 4. We had no time to shop or eat lunch at the airport. 5. We boarded the plane and waited until 13:05 to takeoff when we were scheduled to take off at 12:15 (50 minute delay). 6. We received no communications about delays from Alitalia (via e-mail or app). However, we received e-mails from Kayak stating everything was on time. We had no communication from Alitalia about the delay or that we could not check in early (which you could do at every other airport I have been to). We also had a connecting flight in Rome that we were concerned we would miss. We arrived at Rome airport on a delayed flight out of Marco Polo airport (AZ1466). Our 13:40 flight to JFK (AZ610) was delayed until 14:45. After we arrived at Rome airport we ran through the airport to our gate and boarded the plane. After we boarded the plane we waited until 16:10 to take-off (85 minute delay). We did not receive any communication from Alitalia via e-mail, the Alitalia app, or crew members that our flight was being delayed any longer than it already was. We planned on stopping to use the bathrooms in the airport, eat a decent lunch, and shop (which I promised my wife we could do at the airport). However, we could not do any of those things because we did not receive any information about delays from Alitalia. After we arrived home in New York the airline l"

Contra: "Check-in was a zoo. The agents were more interested in gossiping and were constantly on the phone or running in and out of their stations. It took nearly an hour to get through the 10 people ahead of us. And then we were told that my 1 bag would cost $53 to check-in and that I would have to go to another counter in a far away part of the airport to pay...and we had 20 minutes before boarding. Afger running to the cashier, we were told that she had no time and that we should go back to the agent to pay! We ran back and paid, then went to look for our gate. It was finally listed as Gate 12. We got though security ok and got into the line for Gate 12. It was more like a scrum tan a line. Nobod seemed to be doing anything when all at once we saw people boarding. We went to the gate but were told that our flight was boarding at Gate 10!!! WTF??? Gate 12 listed our flight number and Gate 10 listed another flight, but we did as were told and boarded via Gate 10. None of other passengers knew what the hell was going on but we all made it to Rome along with our baggage. We will NEVER fly Alitalia again."

Contra: "Although reservations for our return flight from Rome to Boston were made 5 months ago, we were bumped from our flight, not advised in advance, and missed several important work engagements. The management at the Alitalia desk at the airport was not up to the task of reassigning everyone. Understaffed and under equipped (staff was unable to get online to reschedule and re-issue new boarding passes) We are senior travelers (75 and 80 years old) and were forced to stand in lines for 3 hours We're headed to the airport now, the next day, and I am dreading the experience."
Contra: "We paid for bags. Called to check the bags were included and on a technicality alitila charged for bags again. When we asked why, we were told this happens all the time. It seems alitila relays on this to rip of foreigners. This is despicable. This happened twice from two different booking companies and only with Alitalia. I will follow this up next week."

Web site clunky at best and telephone tree info all in Italian only. When I tried to check in on line only message was of a "problem" with the ticket. No way to get info even at airport until shortly before flight. Flight departed one hour late. My wife's foot room impeded by electronic control box under seat in front of her. In short, back office and online services poor but flight and plane ok. None the less, will not use Alitalia again due to back office problems."

Contra: "The flight attendant at the check in said our luggage was too big and needed to be checked. We got a ticket from her but when we got to the plane nobody said anything and we simply did what we had done all the previous flights we have ever taken, we stowed them in the overhead bins. The flight wasn't full and in fact some overhead bins were completely empty, but I guess she had her job to do and thought it wouldn't fit, but maybe she could have asked if we had used it before. I don't know why they say it's too big when we had been traveling throughout Europe for almost a month and had taken it on 4-5 flights and many other trips. It all worked out. Footnote Air France never made a issue of the exact same baggage that Alitalia said was to big. The bags fit fine on all airlines we have traveled. The flight was delayed 45 minutes which made my connection a bit tight. I was connecting to Air France which is part of The SkyTeam alliance comprises with Alitalia but my luggage could not be moved to the Flight to LAX so I had to get the bag I did check and go through the process all over again."

Contra: "The seats were the most uncomfortable my husband and I have ever experienced. The huge headrest forced us to sit bent in a C shape with our heads bent down, no way to sit normally and relax. It was pretty close to torture for a long flight. I just wanted to rip the thing off the back of the seat. I will never fly on a B777 again if I can help it. Its particularly rich when the captain comes on the address system and tells us to sit back and ENJOY the flight. Additionally, boarding started a full hour before scheduled departure, then the flight was delayed an additional 45 minutes while they waited for somebody's luggage. If you boarded early, you got to enjoy sitting there nearly 10 hours for an 8 hour flight."
