Contra: "Had a layover in Toronto. From Toronto we flew to Istanbul and then Venice. While waiting in line to board in Toronto, I was told my carry-on luggage was too big and needed to be put under. I asked MULTIPLE times where my luggage would be- either Istanbul or Venice (final destination) and EVERY time I asked, I was told my luggage would be waiting for me in Venice. Once we arrived in Istanbul I asked AGAIN if my carry-on luggage was here or if it would be in Venice and I was told it would be in Venice. Once we arrived in Venice, my luggage was nowhere to be found. The lost luggage crew (and 90% of the people in Venice) were completely rude and acted like we were a huge inconvenience for them. (I've heard that many Europeans cannot stand Americans, but we were not being rude or obnoxious at all to anyone- we just wanted a quiet, romantic vacation.) So safe to say that it was an extremely rough start. We were in Venice for the Glass Art Society Conference in Murano and due to my luggage being lost, had missed the first day and a half, therefore wasting hundreds of dollars. Luckily my boyfriend's phone worked in order to spend our first two days of vacation (not to mention the amount of money spent on international calling costs) tracking down my luggage, but again dealt with completely rude people who barely helped us with any answers and even hung up on us multiple times (and I'd like to add that despite my frustration, I made sure that I was not speaking rudely one bit). The best answers we received were from the people at the Istanbul airport who told us that Venice received my luggage hours before I even called Istanbul- which I do not understand why the Venice airport did not tell me this because I spent all day speaking with them. Once I called back the Venice airport to confirm what the Istanbul airport told us, they said (once again rudely) that they called me on my phone but did not answer (which I already told them that my phone did not have any service and to call my boyfriend's phone number). So to sum up: I will never be flying to Venice ever again."

Contra: "If you sit the the second cabin on the 777 they run out of buns and champagne by the time they get to you which is unacceptable for business class and they only finished the meal service 2 and a half hours into a 10:30 pm departure flight which is way too slow. They tried to lie to me that they didn't have champagne but I saw them opening 2 bottle when I went to the front lavatory. Between meal services crew is non existent."
Contra: "Didn't get to Instanbul or my destination of Budapest. There were mechanical Issues that I was told were weather issues. I was delayed over 12 hours, missed two connections and given the runaround about getting a place to stay for the night. The shuttle service provided took another hour at 2am! $47 to cover four meals and no mention of flight credit on my first leg for the HUGE inconvenience. A direct flight to Budapest a 27 hours after the fact is the best they could do and wanted to charge me a change fee too!! My vacation is cut short by this mess and my travel companions already in country are waiting on me to get their trip started. I will not be using Air Canada or Turkish air until they can communicate between one another and provide at least average customer service. So, it's safe to say that it will be the 12th of NEVER when I fly Air Canada"

Went to their office at Pearson and they had no clue as well. Two days before the flight they called to tell me my dog can't fly due to unknown reasons and created a MAJOR nightmare. I paid $400 for papers and cage for the dog only. Very very unprofessional and will NEVER fly with Turkish Airlines again!!!"

Pro: "the magazine selection prior to flight, bottle of water in front of each seat and crew were great, the pilot's landing was amazing! The seat in front of me had weird legs that made the room under the seat smaller than other seats around me. So you couldn't fit in the carryon fully under it as you could under the seat diagonally from me, however, this ended up being a huge plus since I could use the legs of this chair in front of me as stepping places to place my feet during flight. Since airline does not provide foot rest, it was great to have this to elevate the feet for a long flight. More considerations should be give to provide footrest or at least these kind of foot elevations."
Contra: "The dinner and breakfast were a bit disappointing, but not bad and not a deal breaker at all since the rest of the flight was wonderful. I noted comfort as ok, but that's applies to all airlines - the seats in economy and no footrest is very uncomfortable, but that's on all economy flights, so no deduction of points there. I do want to note that I needed a boarding pass at the gate and stood in line for quite a while (I was first in line) before I was even acknowledged by a lady who ended up helping me eventually. But she was so cranky! (there were 2 ladies - one busy helping the crew and putting around barrier - she was fine, the other with a head covering (putting this hear just to distinguish the ladies as one was doing a great job)- not sure what she was doing, but she plainly ignored me standing at the desk in front of her, I didn't say anything, just patiently waited until she acknowledged me, and then she printed the boarding pass for me, but she was way to cranky to be in the job that she is in - no need for that kind of attitude."

Contra: "The scheduling of the in flight events made no sense. The cabin was dimmed for take off (logical, given that it was a red-eye). However, once we were at altitude, the lights were put back on to serve dinner. Several people were woken up by this and it took like 1.5 hrs because its a big plane. Also, it was like 9-10pm local time by this point so dinner made no sense! Then the lights were dimmed and people tried to sleep. The lights were turned on 1.5 hrs prior to landing to serve a light breakfast. So, 6.5 hr red-eye turned into about 3.5 hrs of actual sleeping time. I would've preferred to be left alone and given a bigger breakfast."
Pro: "From Toronto to Warsaw we flew with Air Belgium even though we paid a ticket for Polish Airlines and everything was horrible. We waited an hour without any explanation before boarding and another hour and half after boarding. The seats were very uncomfortable and there was no leg room. Flight from Warsaw to Belgrade was a lot better, however 2 out of my 3 luggages were lost. Crew on both flights were lovely."

Contra: "Extreme delay supposedly as a result of a lightning strike to the plane. About 9 hours delay and a missed connection. The only compensation given for this dealy was a voucher for a 20 Euro meal at the airport restaurant of my choice. I know planes get hit by lightning on average of once a year, but it typically does not take 3 to 4 hours to inspect and confirm the safety of the plane's electrical system. But perhaps better safe than sorrry!"

Food was good but they did not serve everything that was listed on the menu. My wife ordered the pancakes with berries for breakfast and they said they did not have any. After they told us they did not have this item, another passenger from Russia sitting in 3A started complaining and they miraculously found the pancakes for this passenger. this leaves a bad impression about the service and not what you expect when you buy a business class ticket."

Contra: "Because of loosing our connecting flight in Warsaw (due to weather...I think, it was never explain to us why our first flight had a 3 hour delay), the boarding staff was very helpful finding us a different route. Well the flight from Warsaw to Berlin, operated by LOT was horrible! No snacks no drinks, not even water on a 2hour flight! Shame on you! I had my wedding gown with me and I asked one of the crew members to put it in one of the closets design for this. And in a broken English she told me 'ya there is a problem' and she showed me the closet, it was full with the crew luggage :( We ended up laying the gown on one seat that was empty! When we arrived at our destination and picked up our luggage we noticed that they broke one of the wheels. Overall very ugly experience with LOT!!!"

Contra: "The aircraft (B787) was a bit run down. Some of the cabin crew were unprofessional, at at times rude to passengers. No wine/beer offered during the dinner service. They offer "gourmet" cafe on-board for purchase, but one has to go all the way back of the plane to make a purchase, the flight attendants refuse to bring it to the passenger, which I found to be strange."

Contra: "I am used to traveling continents with other companies. There has always been 2 check in bags allowed with no extra charge as long as you are under 23kg on each. I get to the airport with my 2 bags ready, TAP tells me on large holidays, they only allow 1 bag to be checked to my specific African destination until January 11. And that one bag will cost me $120. They will not let me have the second one. Who does that? How much sense is this supposed to have. I checked with others and they do not do that. That rule rule is unfair and racist. Now that I am back, I have a bag missing. Wow!"
Pro: "Everything went according to the timetable, boarding was on-time and we even arrived a bit earlier than scheduled, so I can't really fault the service of the pilots, the cabin crew or the ground operations team. Food wasn't exactly stellar, but clearly a lot better than on most European flights operated by larger companies (Lufthansa, KLM, Air France etc.). The aircraft itself was clean and looked fairly new and well maintained"
Contra: "The seating was absolutely HORRENDOUS. Even though I'm nearly 6'3" (close to 1.90m), I generally never complain about seating space or legroom, even on low cost flights. This particular TAP aircraft, however, despite looking quite new, had some of the most cramped seating ever. Additionally, the trays were minuscule (you could barely place the entire food tray the service during the flight, let alone have another drink at the same time on the tray). Also, on the inbound flight (this was the return one), the seats were fitted with a very simple and clever tablet-holding mechanism, so you could easily watch something on your table while eating your food (from a similarly small tray table). The seat back pockets do not have any material/fabric on the sides, so stored items could easily slip out sideways from the pocket. Shame to have such a good in flight service and to be a punctual airline if you're going to carry your passengers cramped like cattle in seats 'rivalling' the ones on Ryanair flights on 4-hour long journeys."

Contra: "The videos weren’t working, so we had no flight entertainment. I didn’t realize I had to pay $105 USD for my ONE 25 kg bag since it wasn’t on their website nor was I told at check-in. They called my name at the gate and told me I had to pay for it. The food wasn’t that great— my potato, or maybe yucca?, was rock hard, and the chicken needed a lot of salt. The seats didn’t decline that well, and the temperature was either freezing or really hot."
Pro: "The fact that it was a direct flight."
Contra: "First of all, I would like to start by saying that I flight with TAP very often. I guess you can check on your system. I had good experiences in the past and actually recommeded to friends/family. I hope this flight was an exception. A few things were not that good this time. 1) First of all, the online check-in wasn't working until a few hours before the flight, and I didn't even give me the option to choose my seat. Once in the plane, I noticed plenty of empty seats in several areas of the plane. I could have had a much better seat. Also, the fact that the price of the luggage in the ticket is not included is insane! They let you know right at the boarding area. Another 100 plus dollars in addition to the 1,6000 that I paid for the ticket. Incredible!! And they only gave us 15 dollars voucher!! 2) There was a 2 hours delay due to a storm in the south of the USA. Although I am fully understandable with the fact that this situation is out of hands for the TAP company, is it in their hands the care and wellbeing of their passengers. As previoulsy stated, I received a 15 dollars voucher to use becasue of the delay. At any airport, for any decent meal, you will pay a minimum of 25-30 dollars. All items are more expensive. While waiting in the gate to board, we were not offered with snacks, water, etc.. additionally, no announements or updates at all. 3) I had a very uncofortable situation with one of the filght attenders. Male, very tall, dark hair and dark skin. When distributing dinner, I found the way he approached me very disrespectul, ironic and dismissive. ZERO customer services and he is actually the face of TAP in these planes. Unaceptable. I have to look all the way up to him, he wouldn't make an effort to band a bit (of course, not completely) to at least try to hear what I was saying. He was requesting me to speak loud but he would not make a minimum effort to get close to me. His demeanor and attitude made me feel very upsted... abuse of power... to the pooint that I ended up not taking the meal. No manners at all. He should understand that after hours of waiting (check-in usual time plus the 2 hours delay) we were all very tired. Particularly at that timeof the day. Some of us where up for since earlyi in the moring and you could tell that most of the passengers were exhausted. The second we got into our seat, we all used our blankets and try to sleep. He was not empathetic or councious about that. I felt very uncomfortable. Both of the girls that were also in the back area of the plane, were also lacking manners and customer services. I don't know.. other times was much better."

Contra: "The hospitality of the airline crew is very poor as they are extremely rude to their customers. The planes I flew on were very out of date and not comfortable for international travel. I have flown on many airlines, but these planes were by far the worst. Cheap price, for a reason. The seats didn’t recline, the food was terrible, no options were given for food, and the movies were pre-picked. No one had a choice in what they watched. Very outdated. I had 2.5 hours to board my connecting flight and they caused me to miss it. As I waited in the customs line entering Lisbon, I asked a TAP representative if I’d have to get out of the line up and go right through as my flight left at 2:10 pm. They said you will make it, stay in line. I get near the front of the line 2 hours later... hundreds of people were in this line and they only had 2/10 customs agents available!!! I ask another representative how far my gate is since my flight leaves in 30 min and she told me “no you missed it. but don’t worry others will be missing it too”. So no I did not miss it, you caused me to miss it cause I already asked if I would and you people told me no. I run to the gate, which has now changed to the other end of the airport, so I run to that gate and it is 10 min before the flight is to take off. I ask the desk agent at the gate and he tells me the flight has already left. Others had missed it too due to the insane customs line up. So the plane left 20 mins earlier than scheduled with only half it’s passengers..... unbelievable!!! When I went to the service desk they did not show any sympathy or apologetic behaviours whatsoever."

Contra: "my luggage was opened somewhere along the way. My gift for my child was stolen. Ugly ! Very ugly !! I got home, I unzipped my bag and I do not have a pair of sneakers that were a gift for my baby and some other sweets, my luggage was half empty! The face of my disappointed kid broke my soul, that should not have happened."
Pro: "There wasn't anything special to like compares to other good airlines. I would say crews attitudes and foods were alright."
Contra: "Doesn't have a USB cable to charge the phone and there were no perfume or toothbrush for the long journey. Also no apple juice."
Pro: "The check in was smooth and boarding was quick"
Contra: "We had problems with TAP up front related to baggage fares and them keeping the $85 I paid for my son who is 2 meters tall to be in an exit row and then assigned to a different seat. He was miserable for almost seven hours."
Contra: "As I keep metioning....you guys need to be more generous with the Victoria program. I fly you guys a minimum of 7 or 8 times a year, plus numerous partner flights, and what do I get? no free upgrades, 60,000 miles to become gold etc etc"
Contra: "My flight to Miami was delayed due to weather. I missed my connection to LHR, therefore missed my TAP flight to Portugal. I called TAP (before the flight) and they would not change the flight because I went through a travel site. My $240 ticket was lost, and I had to pay over $900 for a new one. I doubt I will use an internet site again because I will unlikely get a refund and it was impossible to change the ticket. Feel awful!"

Contra: "Flight left Toronto at midnight, the crew served a meal and it was about 2 hours after departure that the cabin lights were finally turned off. On an overnight, overseas flight, turn off the lights and service breakfast with a noon arrival like all the flights I've taken to London do."

The ground personnel themselves admitted that no one informed them of our arrival time. True or false? go figure.This all occured while they refused to allow us on board our plane that was still at the gate and nowhere near taking off. This also resulted in rescheduling our ground transfer, which resulted in additional expense. Overall, a nightmare of an airline. Avoid."

Contra: "Late flight, and my life flashed before my eyes on the landing."
Contra: "First flight was delayed by just a half an hour and we arrived in Portugal. We had a connecting flight to AMS with also TAP and had a two hour window to make the next flight with the same company (TAP). We were in line for passport and then security and talked to several TAP employees and they said we would be have time and wouldn't have a problem catching the second flight. Well, we got through the lines with 30 min before our next flight and they wouldn't let us on. Customer service and organization of the airline is really poor. The aircraft had minimal room and no entertainment. We got on our next flight five hours later and all they gave us was a $10 food voucher. So poorly managed."
Contra: "The lady changed my 11H seat for another seat (29B) when I claim that this is not fear , a man said to me that if I insist in this matter he will not let me in Or flight , for me this was an abuse"

Contra: "Crew was rude, unhelpful, and the business class seats were essentially coach with the middle seat unoccupied. It was extremely uncomfortable and made worse by the crew being very impatient and not helpful when we had people in our seats, a 3-year-old we were trying to seat, and all of the overhead compartments closed so unclear where to place bags. Boarding began 20 min late and then we had to stand on the boarding ramp for another 20 min while the crew finished "cleaning" the aircraft."
