Contra: "I had a 22 hour layover. On the website, Turkish Airlines advertises they cover hotel rooms for anyone with a layover exceeding 15 hours. However, it's impossible to get a e-visa to allow Americans to leave the airport to take advantage of this. There is one hotel inside the airport, however it's extremely expensive and booked well in advance. While the service was decent on the plane, inside the airport the TA employee's were very rude and not at all helpful. So be prepared to spend the night on the floor or an uncomfortable bench. Won't fly on this airline ever again."

Contra: "The transfer was a horrible, stressful experience. We knew it as a short connection but Lufthansa had accepted it. On our outward bound flight three weeks earlier, we were all met and escorted swiftly by a flight attendant from the first leg plane (EWR-MUN) to the second leg plane (MUN-Nice) to ensure that we all made it onboard. Impressive. On our return journey, no such luck! No attendant to meet us, and a huge line at immigration, full of panicked and stressed-out passengers jockeying for position, with no-one from ANY airline there to do a triage for those with the shortest connections. Ridiculous. In addition, the passport-scanning machines were very slow and quirky. My own passport was rejected because there was no evidence I had passed through Munich on my outward bound journey!! RIDICULOUS. I managed to slip through to a human being and begged the immigration officer to let me go through with my husband, who had had no such problem. The officer told me he could not find a stamp from my earlier transit through!!! Eventually I suppose he did because he let me through. The stamp was there, I found it, but it had been sloppily applied and was half off the page...hence the rejection by the scanner. We made the flight by minutes. NOT GOOD! Surely Lufthansa could do better in their own country???"

Contra: "It was quickly clear to me that the passengers where simply an inconvenience to some of the crew on UA998. As an example I fell asleep during take off and woke up in the middle of the meal service. The cart was only a couple of rows behind me in the half-ful Economy Plus section so I got up and tried to get the attention of the staff. The lady turned around and confirmed that "I had woken up" with a sigh, as is not only was it inconvenient to her that I was a sleep, now I had the nerves to actually ask for a meal. She presented me with the options of pasta and chicken and I politely asked what they where served with. She straight out said that "she really did not know that" and asked me to make a choice. I wont get into any other examples, the machine was half full at best and there was no stress, so frustrating to be treated like you are an inconvenience to the USA based staff who clearly just wanted to be left alone. The entertainment system barely worked, the touch monitor was very hard to operate - the pressure sensitive functionality was not working properly but I managed to get to my movie and avoid the Chinese subtitles in the third try. I fly United because it's part of Star Alliance, but otherwise I would try and avoid at all cost."
Contra: "Whole experience with them was a nightmare and is still ongoing. They won't help me so I had to turn to Amex to settle everything and get my money back. Unbelievable. The airport had to close due to an emergency, that's out of Lufthansa's hands I obviously understand that. However, the way we were "helped" through all of this was unbelievable- over two and a half hours of phone calls with them, while in Europe (so paying God knows what per minute), 4 hours to get my luggage back so we could leave, absolutely no one from Lufthansa around to help or even tell us what's going on, put us on a flight the following day with two layovers now (paid more for only one layover but what can I do). Next day, at Alitalia gate (Lufthansa put me on an itinerary with flights from Alitalia, Lufthansa and United) had to pay AGAIN to check the bag that I had just paid to check the previous day where we did not end up flying anywhere (showed Alitalia the receipt, they didn't care in the slightest and said its Lufthansas problem, 0 stars for them as well), either way finally got through our 2 layovers, only to discover the final leg of our trip (United/ Lufthansa flight) is delayed 3 hours. Just about to board, now it's delayed another 5 hours. Because we were short a pilot...... Short a pilot, really....? Ended up getting home at 2am on a work night, completely jet lagged and utterly exhausted from being in an airport for 2 straight days. Supposed to get compensation as per United flight crew, only I put my ticket information in the website and it doesn't work for me of course because I have a Lufthansa ticket. No one cares, no one helps, now it's time for Amex to step in and get all of my money back."

Pro: "Lufthansa is one of the better airlines, especially when flying to Germany. They offer a very good service in the economy class which includes free wine (and not only sodas) and a large selection of free newspapers which I value a lot. Newspapers are much more interesting to read than watching movies in my personal opinion. Overall, when aboard Lufthansa, one does not have the feeling of cheapness seen so often on competing airlines. A few years ago, when flying from San Diego to New York, a 5 hour flight on a major US carrier, passengers were not even offered a free drink. Everything had to be paid for. In comparison, all food and all drinks are free on Lufthansa which includes not only wine but also Baileys (a sweet liquor). Given the excellent service, ticket prices charged by Lufthansa are a bargain even if at a small premium over the competition."

Somehow I managed to get to the Terminal 1 and when I spoke to the lady (indian) at the Check-In counter, she has refused me to Check-In because i slipped the line up. The people in the lineup didn’t have any objection and they let me go first for Check-In as I’m already late to my flight. I wante to say something to her, but I’ve controlled my frustration. Luckily the other person in the Check-In counter offered to help me Check-In. Here is my word to the Indian lady staff “F**k You B***h” - learn some people skills."

Contra: "Flight into and out of indiapolis was delayed by 2 hours. Missed my connection flight to LHR because of the delay. never had such a flying experience. Flight was operated by Delta. I won't be flying them again."
Pro: "The flight crew was excellent. My husband and I flew economy and I saw the crew keep passengers well fed (several meals and snacks) and were attentive to everyone's needs and all done with a smile. I thought the hot towels for cleansing our hands before meals was a very nice touch!"

Contra: "It's an a380, stains everywhere, aisles between seats narrow even for business, caos at CDG, no clear queues, ground staff shout at passengers, food selection good but huge gap between describtion and reality, in JFK we waited for 30 minutes cause the docking spot was too narrow for the captain, sky priority? The economy got their bags before 1st and business."

Complimentary wine with meal was also quite good. Entertainment system was first rate with plenty of options for TV. movies, music, games, etc..."
Contra: "Sitting in the middle two seats in the center of the 777 left me stuck for most of the flight. Got up only once. Wife's feet and ankles were swollen by the end of the flight. Not enough legroom to move much during the flight and not enough aisle space to get around with the plane so full. Have made flights twice as long on the 747 and were able to get up and walk."

PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF STANDING in the line for a long time May be they need to have more group Nos to easy facilitate boarding . This is only a suggestion. If they want to improve customer experience and travel again with them"

Pro: "I am not sure where to start from but each lot employee I talk with had poor English and not the tinyest willing to help just to move , I had a flight back from cezh republic to JFK with a stop in Warsaw When I got to the front desk in the air port to print my ticket the Liady ( work at Sation 236 ) was very rude and anti costumer service she print me only my first fly ticket and when I ask why she " I don't know " I said ok so when u get there you know which get I go or where I will print the other ticket she say I don't know Ok and then I ask her can u check if it a room I. My flight from Warsaw to JFK in business it this moment she tell me I can switch sit and ask me to go I was shocked but this was only the bigining when I got to Warsaw I ask in the gate counter where should I go to print my ticket after I try to explain him 10 times what I mean ( he didn't speak English at all ) he told me to go pass the passport check and in gate 21 they will print it to me I fly a lot so I ask him if he sure becuse I am petty sure I will need my ticket the guy at the desk repeat imhim self so I want and waited 25-30 min in the line so the police officer in the passport check will tell me I need to go print my ticket So after the officer from the passport desk call someone he direct me to go to hate 26 and there they will print my ticket I want them and again wait for 15 min to print my ticket ( it was only me this is the sad thing I don't know what tool 15 min to print a ticket ) and it amazing how unsocial and 0 in customer service the lot polish employees I meet And this is without talking about the delay in my coming flight for 2-3 hrs ( a delay it something that happen a lot yes but the way they handled it again 0 in costumer service )"

Pro: "The crew on this flight was amazing. Very attentive, courteous and professional!! The crew was in no way responsible for how terrible this airplane was, and they did a wonderful job of making sure everything was taken care of."
Contra: "The plane was terribly old and decrepit. None of the television screens worked, the airplane was dingy, brown, worn out looking and just overall gross. This flight was operated by a company called Privilege Style, and while the crew was fantastic everything else was terrible. The food was pathetic and nasty; they served breaded chicken that was so soggy it resembled a used dish cloth. It came with soggy oily vegetables and a cake that had condensation all over it. The only redeeming thing on this flight was the free Polish beer (it was warm). The flight we took going to Poland was on one of their new Dreamliner planes and it was amazing! We were so disappointed with this return flight as it was a stark contrast to the wonderful experience we had coming to Poland. I hope in the future they can discontinue use of these older planes, as it makes flying much more aggravating."
Contra: "There was a delay on their first flight and then the same LOT company does not wait for our connection. After that we are send for one night at a crappy 1 star hotel in Warshaw."
Contra: "Departure late about 4 hrs, little information along the way. More waiting at arrival for gate to open up due to late arrival. Seats are not comfortable."

Pro: "I have been flying with them for the past 16 years(economy seats), and I have to say that their service,and comfort of overnight flights have improved tremendously! Partially due to the fact that they have 787 Dreamliners now, in which the seats are wider and are reclining more than before, the leg room is bigger, the air quality better. The crew members are very professional,not overly sweet,yet caring and understanding,especially when you are flying with small children.As to those complaining about overcharged luggage- read the rules people! If you go over the maximum limit of 50lb for a check in, let's say 2lb,they won't charge you,but don't expect them to close their eyes when your luggage weighs almost double that!"

I do not find any information regarding how I can pay for my luggage in advance, and not at the airport."

Contra: "At boarding we were told we needed an additional security clearance "that way". When we searched for it and couldn't find it, we asked two different employees and they didn't know or offer to help. We finally found it but it wasn't a good experience. And finding out at boarding time was not helpful."
Contra: "There was a delay at Warsaw Airport for almost 3 Hours I arrived home 2.00 Am I missed a family wedding that night"

Contra: "Many people on this flight were bothered by the fact that their families were split up all over the airplane and no one could sit together. During boarding there were groups of people who had all been split up and were desperately trying to switch seats with others. I was traveling with a 15 year old, and even though she is not a small child it was very nerve wrecking to be seated 20 rows behind her, not being able to keep an eye on her (even more so because she gets car sick and has thrown up on airplanes before). I don't think I've ever flown where my group was not at least seated in pairs. This was very disappointing."

During the flight, intercom announcements overrode the Entertainment System at FULL VOLUME - EVERY TIME. it is as though they wanted to maximize our discomfort. I would not fly with Lot again."
Pro: "I only liked that I got to watch a few movies to kill the worst experience I had !"
Contra: "I didn't like that I got no food I asked for a water bottle never got it! I was hungry the entire flight I was only lucky to be close to the bathroom"

But when they kept us at the gate for another 1.5 hours without any information as to why we were not boarding, I just about lost it. Delays happen. That is not the problem. But the staff was rude and did not inform us about when or if we would be leaving. When asked about missed connections, said they know nothing and the transfer desk will handle that. I was travelling with my cat, so for me it was super stressful. Once we did arrive to JFK, there were no more flights to RDU that night and it took forever and then some to get me a hotel that would accommodate a cat. Just fly another airline."

Pro: "This was my first flight in Polaris and I was very impressed. I had a window seat and the cabin is configured so that you do not have to climb over someone else to exit your seat. In some other business class cabins on other airlines this isn’t always the case. This reminded me of a BA first class cabin setup. Nice large TV screen and window locker to hold items you want to access during the flight and also a small locker with a water bottle, headphones etc. Food was good and there is an option of do not disturb that you can switch on from your seat. One passenger slept through this meal and the crew were able to reheat his meal. Final comment. I had a 70 minute layover between landing from Hamburg and leaving to the US. Heathrow is a big airport and on a previous flight with BA I have missed a connection with a 90 minute layover. However with United, it was very efficient. No time to visit the lounge but made it to the gate with approx 10 minutes to spare."

They repeatedly asked us about water, as the cabin was dry. I would give the crew an A+!"
Contra: "My husband and I have not flown for several years and have always enjoyed past flights. However, it seems as if the seats have much less leg room than years ago. I am only 5 foot 4 inches, and was very uncomfortable. My husband is 6 feet tall and he was miserable. Sleeping on this 9 hour flight would have been helpful, but due to the cramped seating, it was pretty much impossible. The little pillow and blanket did help with some back support, but I guess making more money per flight is more important than comfort."
Pro: "Everything was in schedule. Bonus was those smaller extra foam pillows in Polaris."

Contra: "Boarding is way too slow, and always seems to be so confusing. There were a couple of crying babies on the flight that make sleeping a lot harder. A German flight should have at least one German bier for their customers. Gate agents moved my wife and I into a row with another customer and gave our seats to single person-which makes no sense to me, so he had two open seats around him, and we were in a full row. B.S."

Pro: "Winter storm commencement in Chicago during take off didn't daunt the pros piloting this Lufthansa flight. Smiling, courteous service, good food and wine along with space to rest has made Lufthansa my new go-to for flying to Europe."
Contra: "Economy seats mean tiny unresponsive video screens. Playing a game of Mah-jong on the in-flight screen is nearly impossible. Bring your own tablet"

Pro: "The flight attendants were so nice, and although our flight was delayed and hour and fifteen minutes and our layover was an hour and fifteen minutes, we were able to make our connection! Since our connection to Portland in Denver was the last flight of the night, they were able to hold it for us. This was wonderful because there weren’t many flights out that weren’t booked solid for the next day. The attendants on this flight were great about updating us with information for the connections and telling us when we would land in Denver."
Contra: "The plane was delayed over an hour for cleaning. It was frustrating to say the least."
Pro: "On time and flight crew were very courteous and professional."
Contra: "United Airlines portion of the flight from Brussels to IAD. My wife and I were seated in separate parts of the plane each in middle seats at the end of the boarding process when there was no longer any overhead room to store our belongings. Uncaring, unaccommodating crew, waiting area with not enough seats, and cramped seating on the plane with no possibility of sleep during an arduous seven hour flight."
Contra: "When I landed in San Francisco, my ticket did not have a gate number on it. My layover was only 55 minutes long so I knew I needed to get straight to my gate. I looked at the screen of departures. The screen said Eugene was at gate 72. I rushed to gate 72 to find that on display screen for gate 72, it said boarding for passengers to Orange County. I then walked to information. The gentleman at information wrote down that my gate was gate 67. I hurried to gate 67 (with only 15 minutes until boarding for my flight began). At gate 67 I asked a United Airlines worker if I was at the correct gate. He said no, my gate was 72. I explained to him I was just there. He was very rude and said if I did not want to believe him, that's fine. I said no, I believe you, I just want to be certain I am going to the correct place as I should be boarding very soon. I started running back to gate 72. On my way I stopped at the United Airlines customer service desk and encountered yet another rude United Airlines associate named Irada. She told me I needed to wait my turn in line and could not help me, even though I needed to be boarding soon. I ran back to gate 72 and the board said Eugene. I asked a pilot who was sitting down on break about the reasoning behind the boards and he helped me. A pilot whose job is not at all in customer service was the one who helped while those with the job in customer service were rude. I was very exhausted and upset with the confusion and noone willing to help. I do not believe I will be flying with United anymore if associates who are supposed to be helpful are not."

Had to use an app (downloaded in advance which we didn't do fur the outgoing flight) to get even minimal entertainment, or pay for an upgrade to get expanded options."
Contra: "My bag was misplaced after being gate checked, it ended up going to baggage claim, not a huge inconvenience, but after all our trouble with United, it was frustrating and we were tired and not interested in waiting for our bags (which is why we took carry on only in the first place)."

HOWEVER, the plane had plenty of overhead luggage room to accommodate our luggage. We were told by the cabin staff that the gate personnel don't always check what size plane it is before requiring everyone to hand in their luggage."

Contra: "On our return, check in ground staff tell us we can NOT check in skis and boot bags, not even paying. The reason was unknkwn but that is what the system was indicating ... We purchased RT tickets, flew from BsAires to Calgary without a glitch, skis and boot bags, in addition to one checked bag and s small carryon each. For no reason we were denied the possibility to check in ski equipment and provided no reason or solutiion. This was also not a full flight"
