Thumbs up for KLM crew, planes and Schiphol Airport, though short on staff and a little late everything went smooth, including the flight.
Dreamliner was comfortable and entertainment system good
Not the first time we have experienced defective entertainment system on this trip. It should be upgraded.

Pro: "Our flight was delayed in Bejing, than we loosed the booked flight of KLM. When we arrived in Amsterdam, we get the recheked in flight."
Contra: "KLM was not prepared to get wheel chair passenger off plane. Cost me delay of 1 hour. I will never fly KLM again."
Contra: "This return flight was much better than the flight going to Amsterdam. I believe the biggest factor was the type of aircraft. The old 747 just didn't meet expectations. The newer 777 on the way back was much more comfortable, with better amenities."
Contra: "Lost a single baggage item, a car seat. Critical for us to leave the airport, and delayed us for over an hour upon arrival. Gave us a loaner car seat that barely fit our child."

Contra: "Poor timing - no reason for a 40 minute delay at take off (plane was fully boarded in time) Old aircraft, shabby, dirty and cramped seats. Coming from my connecting flight from Barcelona, I could clearly tell the different in the quality (and cleanliness) of the aircrafts."
Pro: "The aircraft felt clean and quite spacious (decent legroom). Cabin crew was friendly and everything went as expected. Bonus points for the Beemster cheese sandwich (I was totally disappointed when they served the food, but more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cheese - I even bought some afterwards, from the Albert Heijn just outside the security area)."
Contra: "Very odd queue separation at boarding. Passengers were divided in 5 lanes, depending on their seating area withing the plane (for a more efficient boarding, I presume) but, by the time we all got to the actual aircraft, we formed another queue in the boarding bridge so it didn't feel like any time was saved or anything."
Contra: "Our total flight time was about 17 hours - MAD- AMS-LAX. My husband and I both have an internationally approved carry on luggages with us. When we checked in - they asked us to both check in our carry on luggage. The reason why is because they said they don’t think they have enough space for our carry ons. I told the crew member checking us in that other people that was checking in with the same hand carry size luggage with us had no problems taking it with them. For being about to be on a 17 HOUR FLIGHT we should be ALLOWED to have our carry ons with us! We take carry ons for that reason! I had to argue and prove my case to the crew member to atleast keep 1 carry on with us. I thought that was an UNACCEPTABLE reason for us to check in a carry on luggage when we had a 17 hour travel time ahead of us. Not a happy costumer here."
Pro: "Smooth boarding, clean seats/plane, nice small aircraft (2 rows x 2 seats each), surprisingly spacious (more legroom than expected - and I’m 6’2”)."
Contra: "About 1h30min delay without an explanation. All other planes in the terminal seemed to take off on time without a problem, without exception (aside from this flight, of course)."
Contra: "... ear plugs, masks, good food or even picking seats? I remember when it was all complementary and standard on overnight flights. Oh, and the vegetarian breakfast was unfortunately poor as well. I know you can do better, because you used to."

Pro: "We are guessing they either overbooked or they didn't have sufficient passengers on a Tuesday afternoon who's final stop was Glasgow. They rebooked him for 1200 the next day. DFW to MN, St Paul to Schipole, Amsterdam to final destination, Glasgow. So he ends up having to pay for another Lyft back to our apartment in Dallas, then another additional one for the 12 noon flight the next morning. If he didn't have family living in Dallas, he would've incurred a hotel fee too."
Contra: "He was bumped to the next day due to his flight being cancelled. Then re-booked the next day, with an additional layover. Then due to a 32 minute layover that left 3 minutes sooner..."
Pro: "Very friendly service!"

Contra: "I paid almost $400 for upgraded seats. When I got to the airport-- no seats-- both ways!! i didn't even have regular seat assignments. I had to choose from the last few seats available. The ticket agent, the gate agent and the cabin crew all did nothing to make up for the fact that their system screwed up and stuck me in a cramped coach seat in the back of the plane for 11 hours-- TWICE! Beyond that, KLM must have one of the oldest fleets in the sky. Both ways LAX->AMS->LAX, I was on a 30-35 year old 747 with no wifi, no power and a ten-year-old entertainment system. Never again."

Contra: "Seats on the 777 were too narrow. This 777 had a 3-4-3 seating arraignment, it would have been better with a 3-3-3, similar to a 787 configuration. With the current layout, even with an aisle seat, I was sitting in the aisle. And I am not a large person! The flight was full, so use the 787 and two daily non-stops. For a twelve hour flight, the food was only Okay, could have been better and with a better selection. Meal timing was poor."

Everything was great except for before I boarded I was being told I was supposed to pay extra for a ticket that I already paid for so I was a little confused about that but when I showed them my fare and that my inbound was first class so should be my outbound they said OK sorry about that so I found that to be a little strange
Delayed flight, missed all my connections. They re-routed me on a 20 hr series of flights, charged me $230 for one extra bag, because of all the steps in the new flight that THEY set up because of THEIR delay. Absolutely unhelpful/unempathic counter help. This was easily one of my worst trip experiences, and I fly a lot.
FLight crew was friendly, efficient and informative!
American's movie selection is not great and the user interface for selecting a movie is really not easy to use.

Who would bother with a movie knowing only a part of it is being shown? That is disrespectful of our time. Boarding was a mess- everyone at once, most bags put below with luggage even though most overhead compartments were empty."
Pro: "I found the crew to be nice and friendly and the breakfast was good."
Contra: "It seems like American Airlines has lived up to its reputation. More seats in a plane and less comfort. On top of that, the entertainment system has not been upgraded since the 70's. TV monitors in the middle and everyone has to watch the same thing. Of course, the sound system did not work for one entire side of the plane so I could only watch the movie and not hear it. If you are not going to have individual monitors for each seat, allow your passengers to what from their mobil devises like almost all other airlines are doing."
Contra: "Food was terrible and the audio was broken for the entire plane and couldn't watch the movie they played on the flight."

Contra: "Temperature in the aircraft was extremely cold and when I asked the stewardess for a blanket one asked the other if there was a spare blanket and very bluntly answered no. Only toilet in economy class was cloughed up and was not functional therefore a very disgraceful situation, they sent me to the other toilet in 1st class area and there I notice several blankets on empty seats after I was told there weren’t any spare blankets."
Pro: "When the lettuce looks like the salad you forgot to put away last night you know it has been around and about too long! Pity!"
Pro: "Quick boarding, near empty flight."
Contra: "We were not permitted to board the plane until later than expected, but were told we would still take off right away and regain lost time, no mention of a delay at last call or immediately after, despite the 20 minute delay by this point. After taxiing, the pilot informed us of withheld information, that ATC would delay our departure for ~40 minutes, but we could STILL try to make it up in the air. This was a bold faced lie. It was finally 9:52pm before we even took off from SFO. While idling, the cabin started to reek of jet fuel, and people started coughing and sneezing. Upon landing at LAX at 10:46pm, we were told that there was no gate for us, and that we would have to wait for an amount of time that kept changing every time there was an announcement. The toxic jet fumes started to permeate the cabin again, and people started coughing and sneezing in response. Ultimately it is 11:21pm by the time we reached our gate. At this point, the jetway was broken/failed to open, but despite this, the air conditioning was switched off and pax crowd the aisles without direction. Finally we managed to escape at 11:31pm."
Pro: "The punctuality of the boarding, take off and landing of the flight!"
Contra: "When I came up to have a seat assigned, the representative could have given me a better seating, not necessarily a First Class ( as they were available AND I checked in as an Active Duty Army Officer) but instead assigned me a seat at the rear of the aircraft! Horrible, if that's how AA treats their dedicated service members!"
Pro: "The amount of legroom is insane. Super comfortable flight, very nice staff."

Contra: "Flight was delayed by almost three hours. Crew provided NO service, but it was a late flight."

Contra: "This was a disappointing experience to say the very least. The boarding process in Quito was chaotic to say the least. The AA staff did not make an effort to maintain any kind of order. My husband and I are both enrolled in the AA frequent flyer program and had at least 6 people cut in front of us while on-line. When we finally approached the AA representative, Dayana Gómez, She was rude and not helpful. Our seats on the UIO-Dallas flight did not even recline. We sat completely upright for the duration of the 6 hour overnight night flight into Dallas."
Contra: "American refused to board me becouse LAN did not send the reservation to AA system. Flight was full and AA did not even talk with me about what to do. They just unloaded my bag allready checked to MIA.. After two hours standing at LAN counter they changed my flight to Lima and than to Miami. I came to Miami 12 hours late, very disappointed by this service. According to AA my ticket was never confirmed by the airline !! How can you sell it to customer ??"

The seats were huge and comfortable, though the arm rests didn't move, so you could stretch out (the flight wasn't that full)."
Contra: "One flight attendant was basically rude to everyone. She was so comically unfriendly that people on the plane were actually mocking her (for good reason). She refused to explain to us how the emergent slide worked. We asked because the visual instructions on the door were different from those in the seat back pamphlet. In fact, I still don't know which directions are the correct ones (they were contradictory)."

After a great flight to MSO from Denver, we have been sitting in the plane while DGS tried to figure out how to get us off the plane. No management is here to make decisions. Then on the flight WiFi isn’t working, no entertainment on a cross country flight of 6 hours. Not a word mentioned, no credit offered. Was offered credit by delta for the same issue on a flight half the length of time. Super uncomfortable seats. Also no current to charge devices. My friend moved up to a different seat that was empty to try to get power for her phone and told she needs to pay 160$ to sit in that seat even though the plane is half empty. Just really poor experience overall.."
Contra: "Our flight to Munich arrived late. And our connecting flight to Milan was originally scheduled to leave just 50 minutes after our arrival in Munich. We did not make our flight to Milan and have lost a half day of time at our destination, as well as more than $100 in non-refundable Italian train tickets. Even if our plane had arrived to Munich on time it would have been nearly impossible to make our connecting website. Flight pairings with this short of a layover should not be suggested at this airport when travelers are required to go through passport control."

Pro: "Even with a nearly hour delay to switch planes, the captain and crew were very good at keeping people informed of the situation. The plane we were supposed to be on was having mechanical issues and rather than waiting until we were boarded and sitting on the plane until the issues were resolved (which coincidentally happened on my earlier flight for 1.5 hrs) the stopped boarding, which made a bad situation a little less crummy."

Contra: "I expected economy plus to be comparable to other 'pluses.' It isn't - it is more what I expect regular economy to be. Also suitcases had not been monitored for over-size. There were more than a few taking up most of a storage bin each. Also there was an hour delay for mechanical repair."
Pro: "All of my flights were delayed. Some because of weather out of PDX to but mostly due to inadequate maintenance all of which made me four hours late arriving and 2 hours late coming home. Also the app entertainment didn't work when I could use it and it wasn't available when my app did work. Plus my seat didn't recline for the four hour flight from IAH to PDX. I'm not super impressed by my last trip with United."
Pro: "The flight was bumpy but otherwise pleasant"
Contra: "There was a rude passenger that yelled at me as I was exciting the flight suggesting that I cut her off as we were getting off the plane thinking that I took her bag. It was outrageous and completely ruined the flight for me. I realize this has nothing to do with the flight but it just made me feel so crumby and attached that I felt the need to share it. Also the leg room was a joke. We barely had any room to move. I probably won't fly coach on united again due to the bad taste it left in my mouth. Unfortunate because it's hub is in chicago."

Contra: "I was disappointed with the united club turning me down in Newark. For the second time I tried using my day passes, and they weren't accepting them... They had huge signs that day passes aren't accepted..."
Contra: "My bag was misplaced after being gate checked, it ended up going to baggage claim, not a huge inconvenience, but after all our trouble with United, it was frustrating and we were tired and not interested in waiting for our bags (which is why we took carry on only in the first place)."

Pro: "All crew members were extremely friendly from boarding to being on the flight, even the captain. When there was a small delay from so control flight attendants had provided great resources for people with connecting flights (they even offered their own phones with the United app to look up connecting flight information). The little waffle treats that were handed out for free were delicious and a nice break from the pretzels other airlines usually pass out."
Contra: "The space between my seat and the seat in front was very small and I'm not a big person. My seat wouldn't even recline during the flight to give me just a few extra inches."
Contra: "Were held up by TSA in San Francisco because we were not given receipt for our dog who traveled with us. (We had a 2 hour layover in SF and took dog outside the security area for relief). Then the ticket counter in SF was understaffed and it took a long time to get the receipt printed (Once at the counter the agent was very helpful, efficient and quick). Should have a pet area inside the security of airports, like Palm Springs does."
Pro: "Wrote so much for the first leg. Same accolades, same issues but the flight was shorter - so the issues were twice as tolerable."

Contra: "The check-in process was hectic. The kiosk tried to double charge me for checked bags tht I purchased previously online. I had to wait in a separate "additional services" line to be helped."
Pro: "Entertaiment. Individual monitors with complimentary headphones and a great selection of movies and tv programs"
Contra: "Flight was delayed for 4 hours. No explanation from the united customer service counter. Spend the whole day in the airport (with all expenses covered by me not even a coupon for a coffee? ) The boarding process once the airplane arrive was terrible, zero organization! It took forever."
Pro: "Good experience all around. The in-flight snack wasnt food allergy friendly but that's it. Good flight"

What could have been better? The seats and food service
Pro: "No incidents which is always a good thing. I would've liked that the seat had a USB charger though."
Contra: "For some reason the airport scheduled 2 packed flights to board at gates right next to each other. These gates are right next to a main corridor. As you can imagine, it was chaos with lots of people standing around in both lines and then bunch of people trying to walk through."
Contra: "Turn on AC. Bigger seats. Better food. Serve drinks more than twice on an 8 hour flight. Actually have soap in the soap dispenser in the bathroom."

Contra: "The website would not allow me to check-in on my phone or my laptop. Had to retry 5 times. Finally when the boarding pass was sent it did not have a barcode. I was able to repeat the check-in to have a barcode in the app but then the reader at security would not read it! I had to go back to the check-in desk for help. AirEuropa web needs to get their act together."

Contra: "Kayak did not disclose that checking bags would cost extra. We got hit with a 60e checked bag fee at the airport. If it WAS disclosed it certainly wasn't in plain site on the mobile app. I checked back on the app to see if I had missed it disclosed somewhere but I still couldn't see it. So it's almost false advertising. Kayak should protect its users. Also, our checked bag that we paid the extra money for arrived late! After our flight was delayed over an hour by the way! Kayak should protect its customers better. Or at least make sure they're informed"

Contra: "Late, disorganized boarding, group pf adolesccentes traveling behind me were very rowdy and on an early morning flight they have to be asked by the flight personnel to be respectful to the other passengers"

Crew was fine, but I asked for a sleeping mask and although the flight attendant said he'd see to help me, he never returned. Not even to say, he didn't couldn't help me. Food (I only ate breakfast) was less than appealing. Movies were all old. Seat was so slim, every time we touched our tv or pocket, the passenger in the front seat was upset."
Pro: "Onboard service was great. A small tram picked me up as I was in a Wheelchair and transported myself and companions to the terminal."

Contra: "It wasnt so comfortable and there was not TV or even radio, or entertainment for an 8hour flight. Also when trying to sleep, crew continues to pass by and turn on airplane lights."

Contra: "Do not offer connections with less than two hours, Madrid Airport is busy and complicated....there is no room for mistakes or little delays when layover is less than two hours."

The flight attendants were yelling at all the passengers and threatened to kick people off the plane for trivial reasons. At the end off the day I guess you get what you pay for as this was the cheapest flight available and the service was mediocre at best"

Pro: "The electric stairway was not working and we had to carry the baby with The carry bags up the stairs and the stroller was not delivered at the airplane it was delivered with the suitcases."
Pro: "In miami and in Madrid The flight Was delayed . The rest was excellent . I didn't have any problems with my luggage not charges at all that's why I am not very upset with the delay problems the crew was superb !! I will flight again with AirEurope !"
Pro: "Crew extra patient and always smiling, entertainment of next generation, new plane, clean and good smell over the 8 hours of the flight. I'm a big guy, 280, seat tight but not unbearable"
Contra: "The time allotted at the MAD airport for connection was tight ... a LONG way to walk with a carry on bag and through lines of people. Need to make flyers over 65 aware of that ...."

Contra: "My wife required wheelchair. No one at entrance of airport to help us. Air Europe booth directed us upstairs to gate. It was wrong information. We had to go back downstairs my wife pushing cart with her cane. Also we did not know that we had to pay for extra bags. There was no fees coming so I assumed there was none going back. $120 euros for 2 bags. Almost as much as the flight. I had no choice but to 120 euros without warning"
