Pro: "Our flight was delayed due to lightning strike on arriving flight, we were transferred to non stop EVA Airline so we can get home and not need a connecting flight in Japan. JAL did all these arrangements without us requesting it. They also were very polite and got our luggage in time to be on the flight with us. JAL is truly a top airline in the world."

Pro: "Incredibly nice staff made you forget about the older plane model you are in. Decent airplane meals and the nonstop from San Diego makes Japan now a frequent destination for us! I lucked out with 3 open adjacent seats roundtrip woo hoooo!"
Contra: "Movie selection was the same on return flight which was a bit of a bummer."
Pro: "The food is good. The seats for regular economy are a bit more spacious. They also have some deal with fast food restaurants, Mos Burger and Yoshinoya so sometimes you can get their air version of the fast-food meals. I had Yoshinoya and it was pretty good. The entertainment was okay, the only 2 things I wanted to watch was John Wick 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but the movies change every month so it was probably a bad batch. Also free toothbrushes and toothpaste available on the plane and a self service snack area. Overall it was great."

Pro: "Great service, attitude, hospitality. Was never treated this nice on any flight ever. Thought I was a king or prince. And that's how they make you feel. If I can, I only fly JAL and especially the flight JL9"
Contra: "The fact there are many airlines which can't even get close to what JAL can offer and even if they try, employees won't be able to match it because of the cultural differences. Makes me sad that other airlines (I won't name them) can still be in business... they need to fly JL9 once and hope they understand."

Pro: "Everything from start to finish was awesome. The "poor" review by someone complaining about a gluten-free meal is typical of Americans that feel entitled. You are on JAPAN airlines... you do realize the non-gluten-free rice is a staple of the country. It's akin to a Japanese person complaining that there aren't chopsticks provided with the meals on an American Airlines flight. How were the staff supposed to help you mid-air? Mid-flight dock so one special meal can be provided for you? How about this: take some personal responsibility and purchase your own gluten free food for the flight and carry it on. Really... how can one compare the 787 with individual on demand entertainment, roomy seats, full meal service (they'll even bring a meal to you if you were asleep during the normal service), etc... all for no extra charge?!?!? It is simply amazing what JAL (and every Japanese company) sets as a standard for customer service."

Pro: "The aircraft was clean and boarding went smoothly. The flight was late but the staff seemed courteous, polite, and apologetic for the delay."
Contra: "I thought I had ordered a vegetarian meal when I booked the flight roughly 1.5 months prior to my trip. However, when the meal was being served, there was only a chicken or pork option and my vegetarian meal had either not been properly booked or had been forgotten. When I informed the staff, I was asked to show proof that I ordered a veggie meal. I could not pull up my email confirmation as we were flying and there was no internet access. I had to lug my bag out of the overhead and search for a print out confirmation. I had not come prepared with the "evidence" the stewardess wanted. While the staff tried to be polite, I also found them to be quite rude, demanding that I produce evidence. Could they not have simply given me an extra salad without all the fuss? I felt I was being treated as a criminal for requesting a veggie meal that had, unfortunately, not been recorded in their system."

Pro: "I was surprised that such a short flight was able to use the newest generation of the 737, the 800 series. While as cramped your typical 737, the seat backs are super thin to allow just that much extra leg room for my two-meter frame. As always, the cabin crew was lovely."

Contra: "Checking in 48 hrs in advance with no aisles or windows seats for selection. Being stuck in the middle seat 26F for 9 hours. Discovered in LAX that my luggage tags were improperly tagged in TPE. I had someone else's luggage tags on my bags going From TPE to KIX to LAX to Houston instead TPE - KIX- LAX- Austin."
Contra: "We couldn't land in Narita due to bad weather, so we did emergency landing to Haneda to refuel and go back to Narita. But after we got off in Narita, the immigration is chaos. Nobody arranging it and people just going wild, nobody knows where the line should begin. We spent 2 hours plus in the imigration line. So from the scheduled time to arrive at Tokyo 5pm, we get to our Hotel at 2am. Good job Narita airport!"

Contra: "You, Kayak, sold me economy tickets. When I checked in online I saw it for the first time that our tickets were Economy Light. So even though we are Frequent Flyers, we payed $220 for three checkin luggages. I intend to dispute this case."
Contra: "I din't like the fact that Lufhtansa company uses double standards for the countries where they have their flights. From USA, San Jose, Ca, to Frankfurt, Germany everything was good (flight on 08/31/2018 - 09/01/2018). They have been very profesional, beganing wih the boarding time untill the arrival in Frankfurt. The flight to Romania was a different story. They haven't been very professional at all. The flight had a delay and nobody said a word. It was just a clerck there who didn't tell to the Lufthansa passengers for a while anything about our delay. So, finally, he said after 15-20 minutes that our fligt will be later, 20 minutes, than the scheduled time on our tickets. They seemed do not care too much about the Romanian passengers."
Contra: "getting fine from DC to Munchen and Munchen to Bucharest, 7 h delayed but we get to Romania. - when waiting for the luggages, guess what? Both luggages are missing. -made the complainment, now we are waiting to show up in Romania and to be delivered at home. -went to pick up the rental car, because of the plane delay, they gave our car away. -after trying several companies, we found a car, 3 times more expensive, but we have a car....yeeyy"
Contra: "Business class is a rip off. They are economy class seats. They don't recline. No entertainment whatsoever!! Horrible experience."

Contra: "Another late take off, probably because the incoming connections were late. So it was good that the airline delayed the connecting flights. However, this leg of the trip was so late that I barely made it to third leg of the trip. A huge problem is that each of these international airports require that you go through the security check again. For that reason, connecting legs of trips through these airports should not be scheduled so close together. Heathrow is the worst, with security staff that, at best, don’t care that you have a close connection to make and just ignore your pleas to speed up the process, and at worst, are just plain rude."

Contra: "Entertainment units kept crushing, were not responsive. Difficult to use and enjoy. Frankfurt airport - total mess at the additional passport control before going to "Z" gates. Crowd of people, huge lines, all disorganized. The control for EU passengers was not so crowded but you couldn't see it at the end of the line, so even people who didn't have to were all crowding in the same cue. Horrible experience and I almost missed my flight because of this mess."

Contra: "A little more options in entertainment in the hindi language would be much better for people who do not like to watch English entertainment. Along with that free wifi would be kind of good to have for people who need to work on the flight or check out important emails."

But it took more than 20 minutes while mid way waiting for clearance to leave for the plane. The service bus did not turn on the AC while we waited even though we complained. We were suffocating. There was no entertainment on the plane."
