Contra: "They have the most uncomfortable seats in the industry. Seat was literally 5 cm (2 inches) thick and did not recline. Impossible to relax/sleep, I ended up with back pain and legs cramped for 2 full days. Terrible overnight flight. Luggage policy is not clear. Carry on items have to weight less than 8 kg (normally is 12 kg), and to check your bag you have to pay. No personal tv/entertainment."

Contra: "I had to pay to check the first piece of luggage 85€ one way. I was not inform of that when I bough the ticket and I could have chosen a different airline If I had considered that expense. The first piece used to be free intercontinental flights but now it varies depending on the company. I find difficult to find this information when buying and it makes a great difference in the final price you pay. I found strange flight attendants having a very loud conversation in a very quiet flight where most of the people were sleeping."

One person was handling alternate flights. I was the 6th person in line (which was the time equivalent of an hour and half wait. I missed all possible reroutes due to flights closing. Contra: "Without notice, we were put on “standby” line, all of the workers told us all of the flights for the remainder of the day and that we could wait by the gate all day or just “take a taxi” from Lisbon to Porto.... a 3 hour ride. Ridiculous! We finally begged our way into being squeezed into a flight to Porto. But of course our bags didn’t make it with us and they could not locate where they were or track what time they would get to Porto... we sat at the airport for hours waiting for our bag until they finally offered to deliver them at a later time, which we are still waiting. We missed a full day of our vacation to Portugal because of this situation and are still hoping that our bags will make it to our destination..."

Contra: "The entertainment for an international flight (9 hours) was horrendous. The tiny TVs were actually fuzzy and it is set up so that you cannot actually choose your movie. It is like watching TV where you may tune in to a movie 20 minutes into it playing instead of starting whatever movie you want from the beginning. To make matters worse, there was no plug-in in case you wanted to watch entertainment of your own on phone/iPad."

Contra: "To start off our trip we weren't allowed to get on the plane until an hour after our boarding time. After we were allowed on, the air conditioning was not working and continued to sit on the tarmac not even leaving our terminal for another two hours. Within this two hours there were many elderly people asking for help and one specific gentleman whom was in his late 70s, informed the people around him that he had a pacemaker was pleading to get some air conditioning to the point where 6 people on the airplane were fanning him off. It was 90 degrees in the airplane and we had been sitting in the plane without any help even pleading with the attendents to let the elderly off so they did not pass out. Once we reached the 2 hour mark without any ac the gentleman in his late 70s was beginning to lose consciousness and many people had to call the emergency services, and the crew on flight TP214, tried to tell us everything was fine while the plane was pulling away from the terminal ... as they were giving the man oxygen, even though the elderly gentleman had lost the ability to communicate verbally and was about to pass out. They had to pull the plane back off the tarmac fully delaying us 3 hours in the process making us miss our other two flights. Once we were finally in the air for the 6 hour flight our entertainment system was not working so we were left to twiddle our thumbs for the remainder of the trip. It really ruined what seemed to be an exciting trip and I highly doubt we would ever take TAP Portugal ever again or recommend it to anyone no matter the price."
